on a Monday
My classes are boring.
Not super flashy.
I'm not real interested in
performing Health & Wellness™,
the performance
of Strength & Flexibility™.
I'm interested in what's happening...
in a pose
in your body
in your mind
your eyes
your feet
What is your experience of this moment?
In class, we often try poses in the studio doorway, at the desk between the cabinets, at the yogashala kitchen sink, because:
A.) you start to imagine yourself practicing outside of the studio, AND
B.) everything in your home has prop-potential.
The 15 minutes you practice at home on a Monday is where your practice lives. Where your practice breathes.
Don't get me wrong. I love class,
I love being a student,
I love learning.
AND last night, I did chair sarvangasana off the edge of my couch, cause my legs and nervous system asked for it after 4+ hours driving in a car.
I can check in with my body & mind in these simple, meaningful ways, on my own.
The guidance of my teachers
has led me here and
lives in my practice.
And I trust that moving & listening
to my body
daily
is a window into my mind,
my emotional body,
my vitality,
my life.
Daily practices, consistency, starting with just 10 minutes, creates change.
Over time.
The big grand flashy things
you do once in a while, may feel like transformation. But they can't even compete with your daily practices.
How can I support your daily practice?
in our weekly class? at home?
printouts? sequences?
stick figures? w/snippets of info about poses?
philosophy? what do the yoga sutras have to say about practice?
emails?
daily accountability?
group accountability?
What would support your daily practice?
